Friday already?

I can't believe it is Friday already today! This week again seems to have flown as has this year I think. Before you know where you are another week is over, often I am 'thank crunchie it is Friday' but lately before I turn around it is another one and another one! Can't believe the children go back to school in less than 2 weeks it seems to have really flown the 6 weeks holiday this year. It might be something to do with the fact that it is the first 6 weeks holiday my little boy has had as he has just left Reception and going into the 1st year infant school so I must admit I took a lot more notice this time.

Well, it is just short today but don't miss out on our summer range as they are further reductions and the sale has been extended to the 5th September so all summer stock Must Go!

Is Winter really coming yet?

Well, as of this afternoon you would think that winter was on its and and summer well on its way out!
The weather was beautiful this morning but changed not long after lunch. I do hope we get some more sun as it always cheers everyone up and makes us all fell better.

Our sale is going really well but I am convinced that we are going to get better weather and it will be very nice again. I have not put my summer clothes away like most other people as there are still gaps in the clouds.

Fingers crossed that tomorrow will be even better!

What Happened?

What happened to the lovely weather? It is pouring with rain today compared to yesterday. It is also cold and very, very wet. What depressing weather and it looks as if it is only going to get worse over the next few days. But I have high hopes for next week and the week after before the children go back to school. I am trying to be optimistic as it is the only way!

Lovely weekdend?

Did everyone have a good weekend? Was the weather nice where you were?

We sent to Scarborough yesterday and the temperature actually got up to 27 degrees! It was really warm and the beach was warm apart from the water that was cold though. My little one had us building sandcastles and then knocking them down with his new RNLI speedboat which he had great fun doing. It was only £1.95 from Scarborough lifeboat station which was a good price to help raise money for the station as well. Imagine if 10 people bought one they could raise £19.50, almost £20 or if even more bought a boat or other things they have onsale there. You never know if you or someone you know could ever need help do you?

Yesterday was a breakthrough for my little one as he actually went into the sea. This was great but I think it had a lot to do with his new boat as on holiday last year he was in the swimming pool and the lifeguard jumped in too soon and he was very shocked and upset by it (I think the lifeguard was a little too worried but I suppose it is his job though so really you can't blame him can you?). After that he would not even let us put our feet in the sea before he became terriffied and the only water he liked was his bath!

Yesterday he played happily with his boat and hopefully will go back to swimming lessons soon.

We really went with the English tradition of fish and chips as we do like them but I must admit in many places they are a bit overpriced especially, in Whitby but they were still very nice. I say English as I am English and we might as well support our own way of life for some things.

Back to work today and looking forward to a busy day as the sale ends next week and all of our summer stock must go by then so we have some great reductions on so I had better sign off for the customers coming in any time now.

Have a good day!

Summer's Over?

Well, it does look like the summer is well and truly over now! Today, it has been between rain and sunshine. Right now though it looks as if it is going to rain heavily again! Hopefully, though it might be over by the time I close the shop at 4pm.

The problem with the weather means that my little boy cannot play in the garden which, he loves to do. But, that is what happens when the 6 weeks holidays are so late, they should be at the beginning of July rather than almost at the end of the summer. But who are we to argue with the beaurocrats that seem to think they know what they are doing?

I also think that if children are not 4 by the time the 6 weeks holidays start they should not start Reception until the following year. Not all children are ready to start school within a few weeks of their birthdays as all children are different and cannot all be categorised! Tell me what you think of this!

But, fingers crossed we might just get a few more nice hot days before the end of the summer!

Help Reduce VAT!!!

Please help us reduce VAT on babies cots and cribs!

We have started a petition to request a reduction of the VAT on cribs, and cots as they are currently at the full VAT rate of 17.5% and like everything else will go up to 20% in the future. We believe they should be zero rated, no mum or dad would like to put their baby to sleep in a drawer these days would they?

So please come along to our shop in New Silksworth, Sunderland and sign our petition. We do not ask for home addresses only signature and email address or whatever you are from maybe Sunderland, Washington etc.

Thank you.
